Reflections
On my side, I glide soundlessly
through transparent blue, barely
marking surface of the immaculate
pool, alone, savoring silence marred
occasionally by a diesel pickup
coughing, a plane purring overhead,
or twin girls in pink quarreling
quietly over one bicycle,
golden ponytails bobbing.
A breeze tempers sun’s sting on my fair
skin. September hints of transitions
to come, too soon, too harsh, but,
for now, I revel in today’s gifts.
